Dan Silverman

Dan Silverman is Wellfleet’s Town Moderator. He was a member of the Wellfleet Fire-Rescue Department for over 30 years, retiring as Fire Chief in 2013; and has been a member of the Barnstable County All-Hazard Incident Management Team since 2006. A founding member of the town’s recycling committee, he and his wife donated the house that became the Wellfleet Swap Shack. He was a member of the library building committee, helping to repurpose the old curtain and candle factory to serve as the Wellfleet Public Library.

Dan has lived in Wellfleet since 1972 and has been a custom woodworker and furniture maker for 45 years. His wife, Janice Gray, has lived in town since 1987, and has had careers as a classical music radio administrator /announcer and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).

Dan’s work on the Fire-Rescue Department let him see Wellfleet’s community with a degree of intimacy that those outside of public safety or social services might not. He was brought into contact with many of our neighbors whose medical, emotional and financial challenges can remain invisible, even in a small town like ours. Familiarity with the needs of this part of our community is what motivates him to be a part of The Fleet Fund and to help strengthen the bonds that hold our town together.

The Fleet Fund Board

Our Board Members have a love of Wellfleet and an understanding of the needs of our community.
