Dr. Woodward earned his M.D. degree at Tulane University School of Medicine. After completing his residency at Bowman Gray School of Medicine / North Carolina Baptist Hospital, he began his practice of Emergency Medicine in Massachusetts at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and was later recruited to Emerson Hospital in Concord to be the Chief of Emergency Medicine, where he also served as President of the Medical Staff and on the hospital's Board of Trustees. Dr. Woodward has served as president of the Massachusetts Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the Middlesex Central District Medical Society and of the Massachusetts Medical Society where he continues as a member of the Committee on Public Health and the Committee on Professional Liability. Currently, he pursues his interests in public health and health policy sitting on multiple healthcare related boards and committees. He has vacationed in Wellfleet each year for seven decades and since retiring is spending several months each year on Gull Pond and is committed to The Fleet Fund’s as a critical local mission.
